Mission

The Foundation Trustees believe that every veteran deserves quality mental and physical health care; assistance in finding work that is fulfilling and financially sustaining; the opportunity to participate in a community; and quality permanent housing.

Focus – the committee will prioritize a grantee that aligns with some of the following:

The Giving Circle will prioritize grantees that support veterans’ transition out of the military through the following areas:

  • Veterans’ mental health
  • Helping homeless veterans to secure permanent housing
  • Providing job training and placement services for veterans

Geographies

  • Excellent ideas and programs regardless of location in the United States.

Types of Organizations/Projects

  • Community-driven organizations working on the ground with veterans
  • Preference given to overall organizational budgets in the low to mid six figures or projects within larger organizations that have smaller budgets
  • We will consider innovative, pilot projects of larger organizations that aren’t well-funded but show promising early results

Metrics

  • Measured at the project/organization level
  • Tied to sustainable organizational effectiveness/improvements and partnerships, which are critical to building the effectiveness of small-to-medium organizations
  • Include the extent to which improvement was achieved with 1-2 simple metrics (e.g. target percentage increase in income), in addition to the number of people served

Grant Amount & Duration

  • The Foundation will consider proposals for programs, projects, and coalitions, with grants in the $25,000-$50,000 range—our aim is to be influential by giving what for the organization is significant funding, but not to create dependency
  • The Foundation will consider proposals for programs, projects, general operating support, and coalitions
  • The Foundation will consider multi-year grants for sustainable, longer-term solutions

2024 | 5 Grants | $156,000
